Sanlúcar is a bustling tourist resort. It's very popular with the Spanish. It was once a hugely prosperous -su-interior-pueblos-blancos,-su-interior-pueblos-blancos,-su-interior-pueblos-blancos,-su-interior-pueblos-blancos,-su-interior-pueblos-blancos,-su-interior-pueblos-blancos,town and the remains of this can be still seen to this day; large palaces and grand crumbling churches are scattered throughout the town. Sanlúcar is located just south of the Doñana natural park and seperated from it by a river.
Sanlúcar is well known for its excellent seafood, particularly the langostinos or (large prawns). The Manzanilla wine is excellent too. Sanlúcar is famous for producing wine.
Here you'll find one of the best markets in Andalucía. It's takes place in the Plaza de San Roque, which is the town's main market hall. The range of goods being sold here is enourmous.
Sanlúcar's main square is very pretty. It's lined with huge palm trees, and cafes. People sit out all day long enjoying the walm balmy climate.
All the modern holiday apartments are located near the beach. The main road behind the beach gets packed with Spanish teenagers flying up and down, parading there shiny motors and blaring loud music.
Feria takes place on the 15th of August. The streets are transformed into a magnificent floral carpet, created by coloured sawdust and salt. Horse racing starts at the end of August. It takes place on the beach between Sanlúcar and Bajo de Guía. There is also a golf course. Just north of the centre, there is the old fishing district with lots of bars where you can chill out and enjoy the views. |
