Cinema in Cadiz is represented by two cinema complexes. However none present local cinema and rather opt to screen international blockbusters, which are dubbed in Spanish. The chances of seeing an original version film in Cadiz are pretty slim. However the cinemas in Cadiz still provide the classic film experience.
On the top floor of the biggest department store in Cadiz, ‘El Corte Ingles’, you will find a cinema complex called ‘Bahia de Cadiz’. They have an extensive selection of films including all Hollywood blockbusters. Although you will be hard pressed to find one in any other language except Spanish. There is a inherent culture here to dub everything into Spanish so therefore there is no demand for original version cinema in Cadiz and throughout much of Spain.
The company, Cinesur Film, began in 1932, in which the father of D. Eugenio Sánchez-Villegas Ramade leased the theater La Rabida in Huelva and made famous the slogan "screen successes". During the following years he continued with the film industry, acquiring various locations in Andalusia, including Cadiz. Today the Cinesur complexes have over 11, 125 rooms and 25,600 seats, distributed throughout Andalusia, entertaining every year more than 5,000,000 viewers.

If you cannot make it out to the store you can try the centre’s sole cinema attraction, ‘Al-Andalus Cinema’. Now there always rumours that this particular cinema has provided, in the past, original version cinema. However in recent years there have been no screenings of this kind and none planned for the future. The cinema sits behind the clothes shop ‘Sfera’, which is in Palillero Square.
The site of the current cinema is the result of the demolition of the old Municipal theatre of Cádiz. The theatre was situated in Palillero Square next to the City Hall. It was then developed as a leisure complex of 9 local cinemas cinema with approximately 1,100 seats. In addition to these cinema complexes these centers are managed by group companies giving them extensive local knowledge.
