Description

La Caleta is located in the historical centre of the city. It was a natural harbor where ships sailed and anchored by the Phoenicians, Carthaginians and Romans. This is probably the 2nd most popular beach in Cádiz. It's located in the Vina area and occupies a space of 23,000 square metres. It's 450 metres long and 50 metres wide. Due to its size it becomes very busy during the hot summer months. There is a promenade that stretches from one end of the beach to the other.

Its main attraction is its location, a fact that has inspired musicians and poets such as Isaac Albéniz, José María Pemán, Paco Alba and Carlos Cano. The flanking of the beach by the castles of San Sebastian and Santa Catalina, give it a truly unique appearance and quality. For this quality it has chosen by many directors the scene of several movies such as 007: Die Another Day, Alatriste, Manolete and El Amor Brujo.

The beach holds a special place in the hearts of people from Cadiz who consider it one of the most emblematic of the city. With this in mind the beach is a recurrent theme among singing groups of Carnival.
